Welcome to the Directorate Monitoring and Evaluation
Our main responsibility is the monitoring and evaluation of policy achievements in higher education. Our Directorate also runs other activities and projects to support the CHE Board and the CEO to fulfil the CHE's core function of providing advice on higher education issues to the Minister of Education. The Directorate is responsible for corporate functions which include the management of publications, conferences, seminars, and forums. We also maintain a resource centre that supports the information needs of the CHE.
The Directorate's monitoring and evaluation responsibility and approach are outlined in the CHE Monitoring and Evaluation Framework. The framework will be published in March 2004 to invite comments from interested parties. The final adoption of the framework by the CHE and its implementation are planned to take place in the course of 2004. A CHE Standing Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation supports the project.
The Monitoring and Advice Directorate pursues its activities by collaborating with local and international experts and stakeholders in South African higher education. It supports the CHE's commitment to develop higher education in South Africa by actively promoting and supporting the development of a critical community of higher education policy analysts and researchers based within and outside higher education institutions.
The Directorate publishes the following CHE publications:
- The State of South African Higher Education
- Higher Education Monitor
- CHE Higher Education Discussion Series: Kagisano
- CHE Newsletter
- CHE policy reports and research reports
Regular activities organised by the Directorate include:
