On 9 November 2004, at a meeting held at the CSIR International Convention Centre, the Council on Higher Education launched its report on 'The State of the Provision of the MBA in South Africa' (reference:
Higher Education Monitor - The State of the Provision of the MBA in South Africa). The report takes as its point of departure the results of the re-accreditation of the MBA programmes done by the Higher Education Quality Committee contextualises the provision of MBA programmes within both South African higher education and international debates on MBA programmes. The report focuses particularly on issues of teaching and learning and the relationships between MBA programmes and national developmental needs.
The launch was attended by a hundred delegates. Among them were the directors of business schools and schools of public management, representatives of different business sectors, SETAS, government officials and the press. The launch of the report signals the culmination of the work of the HEQC in relation to the MBA programme.
