Welcome to the Quality Promotion and Capacity Development Directorate

The Quality Promotion and Capacity Development Directorate works with higher education constituencies and organisations to carry out its quality promotion and capacity development responsibilities. In addition to Programme Accreditation and Institutional Audits, the HEQC has embraced Quality Promotion and Capacity Development as an important quality assurance function.

The directorate carries out a range of activities including developing good practice guides; initiating special projects on quality issues in teaching and learning, research and community engagement; and convening conversations on pertinent higher education issues. It works in close collaboration with the other directorates of the HEQC to carry out the quality promotion function.

The Quality Promotion and Capacity Development Directorate derives its principles from the CHE's and HEQC's legislative and policy mandate as well as from a thorough knowledge of the higher education sector, which informs all the work of the directorate.
