Ruth van Staden joined the Council on Higher Education (CHE) in February 2008 as a librarian. She was a law librarian at State Law Advice, Office of the Premier - Gauteng before joining the CHE. Prior to that, she held the position of principal librarian at the Department of Minerals and Energy. She started her career in the public library field, has tutored at a youth collage and worked at a nursing college.
Ruth holds a BA(Ed) degree and the post graduate library diploma from the University of Johannesburg (then Rand Afrikaans University). She also has an Honours degree in information science from UNISA.
